How to Find Us:

From Inverness:

Follow the A9 north following signs for Thurso or Wick. On reaching Helmsdale, turn onto the A897 Strath Halladale road (following Melvich signposts) and continue along single track road for 40 miles until reaching the coastal A836 road. Turn left and follow signs for Tongue - Melvich is 2 miles along the road west. The hotel is situated at the top of the village looking down to the beach.

Alternatively, continue along A9 from Helmsdale north to Thurso where the road follows west along A836 to Tongue & Bettyhill. Continue along this road for 18 miles until reaching Melvich.

Getting here from the Information Centre, Thurso:

From Thurso Tourist Information Centre head 18 miles west. Follow A836 from Thurso, through Forss, past Dounreay and the village of Reay. On reaching Melvich, the hotel is on the right at the top of the hill in the village on the Portskerra road.

Getting here by Railway:

Trains travel north daily from Inverness and Dingwall to both Thurso and Forsinard train stations.

Forsinard is situated 20 minutes south of Melvich on the A897. The conductor should be advised if you wish to leave the train at this station.

Following north from Forsinard the train will travel on to its final stop at Thurso station. Melvich is 18 miles west along the A836.

Getting here by Ferry

From Scrabster harbour, turn west onto A836 following signposts for Tongue and the West. Melvich is 20 minutes along the main road, approximately 16 miles.
